Taking full advantage of the opportunity, Ann has a truck load of trees and plants delivered from a nursery in Provo to the Beachcomber for transport to Salt Cay.
A local shipyard worker came by with his forklift and we asked him for some help. Half way through lifting the first tree the forklift sputtered and died. Realizing he had run out of fuel, he took the rock off the top of the gas tank (on top of the forklift) and placed it under the front end of the tank to give himself enough gas to get home. The rest of the trees and plants were loaded by hand (and pulley).
With the boat loaded and plastic over everything to keep in protected... Captain Mike, China Mike and Coral take time to talk about the coming sea voyage. | The voyage is about 65 miles (10 hours) from Provo to Salt Cay. Because the wind is blowing, the seas are rough and the decision is made to leave on Monday morning. |
